The Street Department’s mission is to provide high quality service to the citizens of Garland by maintaining, repairing and/or replacing streets, alleys, and other related infrastructure.  A safe road system is provided through proper maintenance, rehabilitation, and replacement of failed segments of pavement and all other related infrastructure while upholding the highest regard for customer satisfaction.

The Street Department accomplishes its mission by providing the following services and/or programs: pothole patching; major street patching, milling, grinding, and/or level lifting of the pavement to eliminate standing water;  alley grading; crack sealing; fallen tree removal; shoulder maintenance; street sweeping; guard rail repair; severe weather response – snow/ice street sanding and high water barricading; concrete alley/street repair;concrete alley/street reconstruction; and asphalt street rehabilitation.

The Street Department may be contacted by calling 972-205-3555 or via e-mail.  The office is located at 1775 Gasoline Alley.  Office hours are 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.  To report an emergency at any other time, contact the Water Department dispatcher at 972-205-3210.

The Street Department also maintains a concrete recyling center, located at 3637 Castle Drive, where concrete pavement is crushed to make base material for street construction projects.  Due to space restrictions at the facility, the Street Department no longer accepts concrete rubble from residents and/or contractors. At present, no determination has been made as to when, or if, the Street Department will resume accepting concrete rubble. If you have any questions concerning the concrete recycling center, call (972) 205-3555.
