Adoptable Animals

Nationwide, approximately 20 million unwanted dogs and cats are humanely euthanized each year.  Please help Garland Animal Services by adopting animals.  The Animal Shelter always has a variety of animals available for immediate adoption.  Unsterilized animals may be adopted for only $80.00 which includes the first round of vaccinations, and sterilization by the City Veterinarian.  Animals that have been previously sterilized can be adopted for only $35.00.  Come by the Garland Animal Shelter and find your new companion today.

Think before you adopt

How big will it get? Determine a puppy’s breed prior to adoption. That cute little Irish Setter pup will be able to jump a seven foot fence when fully grown. A cuddly Saint Bernard will weigh 130 pounds and cost $500 a year to feed.

Who will take care of it? Make sure you, or your family has the necessary time and enthusiasm for hours of feeding, brushing, exercising, sifting kitty litter or mopping puppy puddles, training, etc.? Who will take care of the pet when you are away? Will your energy and enthusiasm last as long as the animal will?

How much will it cost? Make sure you are willing and able to provide food, veterinary care, and proper shelter for an animal prior to adoption.

Where will it live and what kind of roommate will it be? Can you provide the proper living quarters for your pet? Are you willing to cope with muddy paw prints, hairs, curtains shredded by a kitten, shoes or furniture demolished by a puppy, meowing and barking, animals needing to be let in and out constantly?

If your answer is yes to all of the above, come see us!
