Recovery Resources

The City of Garland and other community partners are facilitating access to a variety of recovery programs for individuals, families and businesses.

Applications are now being accepted for $584,066 in rental assistance funding and $400,000 in mortgage/rental assistance funding. 

RENTAL AND MORTGAGE ASSISTANCE

Garland residents who earn 80 percent or less of area median income can apply for rental or mortgage assistance through the Salvation Army. To register for this assistance, verify that your income is less than 80 percent in the income table on this page and contact the Salvation Army at 972-272-4531 or mark.sliter@uss.salvationarmy.org.

Garland residents earning 50 percent or less of area median income who need rental assistance can register to apply through the form link below. This process is managed by the Garland Housing Agency (GHA). To register for this assistance, verify that your income is less than 50 percent using the income table on this page and complete the GHA Rental Assistance Registration Form.

Participants must provide documentation of the impact of COVID-19 to their circumstances, including but not limited to the following:

  • Proof of job/income loss, temporary or permanent
  • Reduction in work hours/income
  • Copies of the following: valid, current state ID card, driver’s license or passport (for each adult in the household). Birth Certificate for at least each minor. Proof of income, if any (including current employment check stubs, unemployment benefits, TANF, etc.).
  • Proof of occupancy for all household members

Additional documents may be needed as the applicant progresses through the process.

Dallas County Program

The Dallas County Housing and Utility Assistance program is accepting applications for county residents who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit https://jfsdallas.org/cares/  and http://ccdallas.org/covid-19-assistance-application/ for more information.

CDBG-CV funding approved for distribution beginning July 1:

Housing Assistance – $502,000, Medical Assistance - $300,000, Food and Senior Services Assistance - $136,580, Mental Health Assistance - $130,000 and Program Administration Assistance - $267,145 for a total of $1,335,725.
Details for applying for these resources are not yet available.

Additional funding is anticipated in the near future, but details of the amounts and approved uses of those funds are not yet available. Monitor this page and the City’s social media pages for updates.
